Attention Balloon Artists in Toronto!
My name is Christine Arnold and I am the Coordinator of a provincially funded
project called Passport Mentoring. This initiative assists high schools students
who have an intellectual disability in exploring ideas for their future after
leaving school by connecting them with people who are currently engaged in, or
have substantial knowledge of the student’s area of interest.
I am looking to set up an information meeting for a young woman who is
interested in learning a skill which she can use later as a volunteer. She has
an avid interest in balloons and it would be wonderful if she could meet a
balloon artist and get an idea of what she would need to do to become one
herself. Possibly even have a quick “balloon animal 101” lesson.
The goal of this project is simply to give young people who have an intellectual
disability the opportunity to think about and work towards meaningful roles in
an experience based environment.
In short, I am looking to book a one hour meeting where this young woman could
ask some questions and get a “hands on” balloon artist experience. Our schedule
can be flexible and I am able to facilitate transportation.
Please contact me if you are able to give an hour of your time.

One May 8, 2011 we are holding the 1st Annual "Walking For Our Future"
Walk-a-thon at Fairy Lake Park in Newmarket, Ontario. This walk will be
raising money for Breast Cancer Research and has been sanctioned by the
Canadian Cancer Society. The big difference about this walk is that it was
the brainchild of a 10 year old Newmarket girl-Madison McBride, who decided
that there should be some way that kids could help too! This walk-a-thon is
just for kids and it is growing like mad. We are getting sponsors and lots of
media attention and expect more as we get closer to the event. Since this is
for kids we are trying to make the whole event fun, interactive and
entertaining. We have arranged to have the Town Stage set up in the park, we
have a local, up-and-coming musician who will be performing, as well as a
local DJ who will be helping out. I was wondering if any of your performers
would like to help out as well. We'd love some performers just walking around
amongst the participants, such as jugglers and stilt walkers, as well as stage
performers such as musicians. We would really appreciate any assistance to
help us make this event a great one. Thank-you

-12.30. Location: Hidden Valley Park Burlington This event is a fundraiser
to raise money for The bereaved Families of Ontario, Hamilton/Burlington
organization that offers support services to parents and children after the
death of a child, parent or loved one. The event is a walk in remembrance
and a celebration of life which culminates with a butterfly release. Last
year we had over three hundred people attend, we released 200 individual
Monarch butterflies and raised over 30,000 dollars. We hope that this years
event will be just as, if not more successful as we are honored to have
Jamie West and Rebecca West (CHCH Television and 900 CHM) as our Honorary

attending we are hoping for more children's entertainment, because we are a

a small group of volunteer parents who for 5 years have run an Easter Egg
Hunt at St. Christopher's Park ( 119 McNulty Blvd.) in the east end of
Hamilton, near the Centre Mall for children between the ages of 0-12. We
are currently looking for some volunteer clowns, face painters, balloonists,
artists or any other entertainer that may be able to offer a couple of hours
of their time towards this events. We would love to have an Easter Bunny
who may show up for the kids as well or some Chickens or anything that may
be of special interest towards the children. Our Easter Egg Hunt will be on
Saturday April 15th from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and we currently have the
Community Health Care Bus, The Canadian Paraplegic Association and some
other organizations that have offered their time to us. We do not make any

The Albion Community Association is holding
its 27th Annual Victoria Day festival from Friday May 19th until Monday
May 22nd. This great community festival attracts more than 20,000 people
on Sunday alone for our spectacular fireworks display, car show and
midway. This year we have decided to concentrate Sunday around kids &
family based activities. We have invited 6 local charities to organize
their own fundraising activities on that day and take advantage of the
crowd present waiving the standard booth fee's so that may profit from the
event. We the Albion Community Association are a not for profit group
consisting of only a handful of volunteers and would appreciate anything
that will help us draw more people to the event and help these great local
charities towards their goals. We can offer some prime spots for retail
for free in exchange for a performance on our children's stage or even a
walk around the crowd. Please contact me if you are interested in helping
us, I thank you in advance for your timely positive response.
